As a hopeless romantic my passion lies in creating romantic imagery.
I greatly admire the Pre Raphaelite painter Dante Gabrielle Rosetti who created the epitome of what he considered the ideal beauty in a woman. Also in my pantheon of stars is Julia Margaret Cameron for her idyllic poetic imagery that illustrated stories of love, passion and romance. I seek beauty everywhere and frequently find it surrounded by chaos and ugliness. Again the romantic, I must admit that I find beauty's sparkle all the more compelling in adversarial conditions.

Within my life, there have been seven passageways to explore art and photography and self-identity. My corridors to discovery have been nature, dreams, angels, children & creativity, archetypes, ecstasy and meditation. These seven doorways have opened a better understanding of life and self through photography. My involvement with photography has been a journey of experimentation and self exploration into a world where imagination has dictated inner visions of love and joy as well as pain and sorrow. On this path, fear and desire had to be confronted with an uncompromising passion for challenge.

I believe that the images we create are symbolic of the myths and archetypes that are alive in our psyche. Our work becomes a symbolic tapestry of images that represent the development of our consciousness. Through persistence, perseverance, and hard work, we learn to better understand the nature of our own personal myths. During a portrait session, I work to capture and record a variety of images that illustrate my client's personality. This may even include photographing with a myth or archetype in mind. I provide my clients with costumes and a variety of sets depicting Medieval, Renaissance, Roman, Greek, Victorian and contemporary themes. These often lead to unexpected results. We play and experiment and allow our imaginations to dictate the photograph. Our interactions create a magical moment frozen in time.

I seek to embrace the unknown and to work without concrete expectations. While I want to be prepared for the unexpected in my life, I realize that one must be open to the element of surprise to create something new. We work with formulas and set patterns often to the demise of our creativity and inherent talents. I feel my state of mind effects how my clients feel and respond during my work with them. Their ability to open or close also affects my emotional state. I imagine myself a clean slate devoid of my own personal baggage (expectations, fears, doubts, angers, loves, etc.). But I know that I carry an agenda. I want my clients to feel absolutely safe and free to be themselves, and I want their shields to drop and the barriers to fall.

We are emotional creatures. Emotion is defined as energy in motion. I feel it's important to know how to identify the energy or feelings surrounding my clients. I must learn to be unaffected by their doubts, fears, and shortcomings. One of my goals is knowledge of what my clients are feeling and the ability to process it for them.

The future is unknown, but my passion lies in creating images. I love working on the computer, mastering Photoshop and digitally manipulating imagery. I'm also exploring the world of Giclee prints via the computer. I delight in teaching others about photography, motivation and the inspiration to create art. My grandchild is my current revelation as were my children before him; I'm looking forward to a life of travel and experiences in the company of family and friends. In other words, I anticipate my freedom to continue the dance of life.

My wish for each of us: may we stay young at heart, experience love and joy, and may each of us find peace within the essence of ourselves.

My eyes are opened
feeling renewed.
I'm seeking to know me.

Through light
into vision.
One God
One Spirit
One body
One life.
